Environmental education for children in the Wyke Beck Valley
A campaign designed to encourage children in the Wyke Beck Valley to put their rubbish in the bin in order to help protect the environment
The project will use art and design as a means to provoke children to reflect on the effect of discarding rubbish on the environment of the Wyke Beck Valley. Through my psychogeographic fieldwork in the Wyke Beck, I found that the waste in the area is mainly household waste, with some child-attributable waste. Incorporating the principles of local waste segregation in Leeds, the final product will be a series of interactive designs in the form of toy-shaped ‘new bins’. Representative elements of litter have been taken from the fieldwork and combined with a number of toy shapes.
