Statement

As a menswear designer, I am most interested in details. When designing, I think extensively about functionality, about adjustability, about small elements which add that bit extra to my garments.

DISCONTENT X BAUHAUS DESIGN

For my Fashion Innovation concept I drew inspiration from the artwork and practice of the Bauhaus, drawing both from the aesthetic look and techniques utilised by the artists but also their values and principles. The project approaches the idea of sustainability from the perspective of producing trend-defying durable design like that of Bauhaus designers and makers. The collection is designed for my own brand DISCONTENT, a modern luxury brand so called because my customer is discontent with the current hyper- consumerism in fashion and wishes to shift towards a more timeless, long lasting wardrobe. My two final outfits were created utilising deadstock Savile Row fabric.

RAEBURN: ROUGH WATER

PAUL SMITH: RETROFUTURISM
