Statement

The most important aspect of my paintings is that they are a celebration, in a way I think of them as time capsules in capturing the values of presence in the ‘now’ through primitive abstraction.

Energetic applications of the painterly act are conducted to reach speed and motion whilst still mindfully considering the relationships between each brushstroke. This process says a lot about the ‘everyday’ of humanity as it speaks on chaos in our lives yet also brings forth the sense of intimacy and connection.

There is a long relationship of abstract painting with the spiritual and my work builds on this: I think of it as a paradoxical pursuit into attempting to find an “inner truth” amid material and immaterial conversations.

‘Surroundings’

The large scale of the canvas’s envelopes the eye into the rhythmic relationships of line and shape that merge within the pictorial space. The tensions and uncertainty of the surfaces might resonate with the viewers, so they begin to question their surroundings.
