Statement

This installation is intended to evoke a sense of escapism, induced through the curating of fabric within a space, which harbour pattern and colour from various traces of light.

A Casual Magic

A Casual Magic [brusho on chiffon organza]

My work utilises the subtleties of colour and evolving pattern and shape, projected in unnoticed reflection and refraction within the everyday. The process of creating these fabrics begins with photography taken in situation and not planned nor designed, instead, relying on natural instances in which light disrupts and changes the surface where it falls. I have been particularly observant of light and its interaction with water or glass, and the change which occurs upon architectural surface.

The project has grown from initial ideas of recreating and curating space for the purpose of audience experience, into an affinity with colour, fabric, and layering. Using fabric, and specifically here, a translucent and malleable material, it allows exploration of the relationship between light and colour upon the context of this surface. It is my intention to provide the audience with an experience of my work, which due to its visually aesthetic value, persuades a response of intrigue which triggers movement as the installation is walked within. Perhaps this aims to enhance the aesthetic value of very ordinary occurrences, providing visually pleasing relief to the intensity of our socio-political environment throughout the past few years.
