2022: MA Design

Showcase

Statement

The model can help the designer test and verify the dual-colour collocation and choose the area proportion, making both "red-green" colour vision deficiency and normal vision feel harmonious.

Colour Deficiency and Harmony in Packaging

The study will focus on the luminance value, chroma value, hue value and area proportion in the dual-colour collocation. The research will base on LCH colour space which can be directly converted by Lab colour space, the most universal colour space. It is also a colour space that can represent the most colours.

Packaging application

The research demonstrated red or green hue (red-green influence value) is not the only factor to cause colour deficiency to feel disharmony. However, the area proportion of the colour in red or green hue plays a decisive role in the harmonious perception of colour deficiency. Across experiments, a universal colour harmony model is derived by comparing the experimental data of 17 normal vision and 13 “red-green” colour vision deficiencies.
